My partner has had 5 surgeries in the last 6 months for melanoma including removal of lymph nodes. He was about to start immunotherapy but unfortunately he has more lumps appeared in the area of original. We are waiting to see surgeon. Has anyone else experienced this? I was hoping they would have started the immunotherapy and then do the surgery. Very concerned about the speed of the spread of the cancer.
Hi Lv2garden and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read how much you and your partner have been through over the last 6 months and it's natural that you would be worried about the speed the cancer has spread.
I don't have the right personal experience to share with you but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion group where it'll be easier to spot.
It would be great if you could pop something about your partner's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Do let us know how you get on when you see the surgeon
((hugs))
Hi Lv2, sorry to hear your news, your story sounds just like mine. Read my profile and you will see. I was ready to start immunotherapy last August but the arrival of new tumours meant it was put on the back burner. After 6 ops I’ve now just had my first session with some side effects. My fingers are crossed that they decide what to do shortly. The worst bit is the waiting.
I had surgery 3 times last year. I'm Stage IV metastatic (lungs, liver, adrenal glands, all armpit lymph nodes (22 infected)).
Been on immunotherapy for 18 months and, to date, the tumours have been stabilised (i.e. no growth). I too worry about the spread and speed but there's not a lot I can do about it and my Oncologist tells me my reaction to the immunotherapy is very good!
I'm waiting for the results of my latest ct scan now! It's always a worry and just hope for the best.
Think positive! Good luck.
