Hi all

I was diagnosed with Melanoma in June. I had this removed from my nose and also neck dissection. That was 6 weeks ago. I'm now waiting for scan results for my lungs abdomen and pelvis which I will get at my 1st Oncology appt next Friday. Has anyone else been really anxious waiting for this and how have you coped best. I am a glass half empty person which I know is not good. Any advice or chat would be really helpful

Many thanks

Parklands

  • I can totally relate the week leading up to my CT scan I had myself convinced the cancer was all through my body. The relief to hear the full body  CT scan was clear was amazing x I am only one treatment of pembro in and so far so good x

it’s a horrible feeling when your not in control of what’s happening but for me personally hearing the course of treatment I needed and dates/times etc really helped me focus on looking forward xx

Hi Amcci. Hopefully that will be the case with me also ice a have been for my appt. I have now been asked to go see my surgeon on Monday I hope he will give me some results as we have been in touch with the McMillan nurse asking if we can get some details on my scans as it's been a long wait and they can't tell you anything can they. So now in anxiety mode again!!. I must say everyone on here is so lovely and you all seem so calm. Hope it rubs off on me

    Stay on touch xx

  • Well very best wishes for Monday. Anxiety I have never suffered from it in my life until I got the news that I had melanoma there with times Over summer that I just didn’t  recognise the person I had become.

I am back at work and have been referred for some CBT due to my anxiety so hoping to begin these sessions very soon. I have also been speaking with a hypno therapist too who had helped me greatly. I am at the stage I am willing to try anything that gets me ( mentally) back to my old self again x

I agree the waiting  between scans/appointments is so tough xx

  • Hi Parklands….sorry for late reply …I live in north west Uk….if you go on HeadSpace and look for meditation for Anxiety…..it’s 3 stages at 10 sessions each starting from a very basic level which was good for me….I’ve missed the past week following my op but plan to restart tomoz….please keep checking in here…I think there are so many of us who can relate to how you are feeling at different points…..at first I felt my world had come crashing in, I’d recently lost my mum, was trying to come to terms and deal with all that then I got this diagnosis…it was the absolute worst time…I don’t think it came back together for a while and even now I have very down times but I know I feel better being part of this community too…..I did contact my names nurse/support worker a couple of times to check out things that were niggleing at me and she was very helpful…..when I had my op on Monday the Macmillan liaison person came and said at any time contact them….perhaps you could think of that too?….Take care and keep in touch x

  • No , I have only just started pembro x one down eight to go…. X
