Hi all, well the last few months have been a bit of a whirlwind. Had a suspected TIA in March and while going through tests to find out why, a 21mm lung nodule was discovered on my upper left lung. A complete surprise as I have no symptoms. I had 2 CT scans and then a PET scan. The PET scan showed some uptake from the nodule but clear elsewhere. The plan is now not to wait for a biopsy but to go straight for the lobectomy using robotic keyhole surgery and remove 1/4 of the lung. The consultant calculated the risk of it being cancer at 90%. Unfortunately I have to wait for availability of the surgeon and have 6 months clear after the TIA, so looks like September. Still doesn’t feel real as I feel fine.
Hi' Fitzyg, I had a lump taken out of my lung last October. Didn't know it was there, they found it after my regular CT scan following my bowel one. I feel fine now and more or less normal. Stay positive there are lots of us gone through what you are going through. It's bloody annoying but here we are in a club no one wants to join.
How did they remove the lump. Was it major surgery? I have been told I have a lung something! That needs removing. I'm awaiting an appointment to discuss. Feels like forever. Very stressed.
Hello Fitzyg, What a whirlwind for you. I hope that you have had a meeting with the lung team physiotherapist. They have some sensible exercises for you to do before the operation and the fitter you are the better.
I had a heart problem early in the year and while doing the checks before surgery they found my lung tumour. Early and small it was initially diagnosed as Non small cell, a not particularly aggressive form of cancer. So the big heart op was cancelled and i had a new valve fitted, with another operation due next year, fingers crossed. Three weeks at home then in for the lobectomy.
At no point had I felt ill. Tired maybe, but not ill. So I understand that you feel it isn't real. I also hope you have someone to go with you to appointments, and record what's being said. Even with that I still didn't ask all the relevant questions.
You have found this forum, so you now have a huge amount of knowledge and experience to tap into, besides the medical team. The support is phenomenal.
Hi Mooseontheloose, no I didn’t meet the lung team physiotherapist, this wasn’t offered to me. I’ve been given a contact for any questions I have so I’ll ask, makes sense to be as fit as possible before the op.
Sounds like you had enough to deal with without having the lung cancer added. Hope your heart op goes well when you have it.
Yes have my wife accompanying to appointments which is good, there’s so much to take in when they go through everything.
All the best to you.
