Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. I don't have to tell you that it's a very scary time as well as being a total shock. I've had no symptoms except for an irritating cough which i had put down to PND. I got pneumonia in July - also a shock - I put it down to bronchitis from the PND! How wrong was I!!! My journey is just beginning

Hi there, I am new to the group too, Jubes, sorry to hear your news, very similar to mine, I had a cough but I put mine down to my COPD, then I got pneumonia, again putting it down to my COPD, but 6 infections in 6 months, it was investigated, mine was a weird one as I have what is called ‘ ground glass’ in my lungs, slow growing GGN’s, so they were keeping eye on them, then one day I went for CT scan and I had a solid growth, which was the cancer I had removed, along with my lower left lobe, the discovery of solid mass was mid dec 22, and I had the op 12 Sept 23. Depending on size of cancer determines how quick your op will be.
Any q’s I would be happy to help with
Good luck Sam, great news it has not spread, look after yourself, have they given you a date for your op yet?
Hi
Thank you, my date is 01.12. Anxious and scared as it gets closer
Hello Jubes. I can empathize as at the start of this awful journey myself too. My mass was found by accident after being scanned for a different lung problem after suddenly getting a pneumonia. I feel your shock too! It's a waiting game now isn't it. Where are you along the line? Have you had your biopsy yet? I'm waiting for mine in a week's time. I've decided to isolate as everyone I know has colds and chest infections! Let me know how you're getting on. Best wishes.
Hi Suzieblues
How has your recovery been after the lobectomy? I'm at the beginning of this awful journey. I have a 3.8cm mass on top left love which PET CT shows as malignant. Having biopsy week on Monday. Very anxious about everything. Best wishes.x
Sorry you are on this journey too. There seems to be a increase in the numbers for lung diagnosis. Also at 38 I was told I'm very young. But I know at least another 2 diagnosed recently with cancer
Hiya Jubes, just logged in and seen your post. Yes it is scary when you get diagnosed with lung cancer. I was diagnosed back in 2020. I had pain in my ribs they sent me for x-ray and found I had a tumer and nodules round my right lung. They did operate but was to far advanced. I have been on target therapy since August 2020 and I am doing OK few side affects. There is hope out there I'm back leading a normal life. Take care Rob
Not long to wait now, I think that the waiting is a real traumatic time, your emotions are very high with the unknown and the thought of the op. I got mine done at Liverpool Heart and chest hospital
