Hello I am new here and so so scared. I have just been diagnosed after about two months of tests and have been in so much pain. My GP has prescribed lots of morphine and just keeps telling me to increase the dose. This is done on the phone. I have seen no one yet apart from the people doing the scans etc and really don’t know who I should ask about this. I understand that I may receive an oncology appt for Tuesday so do I receive more information face to face then. Does the pain ease once I start treatment? Sorry to be a pain myself but don’t see any mention of pain on the forums and I a m beginning to think this is all in my head. How on Earth do people cope with being told yes you have cancer now go home and wait till someone gets in touch - it’s just so hard. I know you have all been there too so thanks for reading my wingeing post xx
Hello Tubs
you really shouldn't have to put up with a lack of information, in my case when I was informed I had Lung cancer the specialist answered all my questions then furthermore you should have been alloted a Mcmillian support nurse and you should have been given their phone number for support at any time, look, these are hard times for the NHS so I think you need to be more pro-active my advice is do not put up with this and shout out, sounds like you have been forgotten or perhaps they think you are ok, they are not psychic, so let them know how you feel, you should be getting loads of support like did, hope this helps>
John m.m.
Hi Tubs, welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. It is good you have an oncology appointment on Tuesday, as they are the specialists, and will be able to give you more advice. This is also when you will be allocated a lung nurse, as John m.m has mentioned. They will be your go to, and they really are a great support.
Please let us know how you get on x
