Hi everyone

I'm knew to the group here, my dad was diagnosed on Wednesday with lung cancer, so as you can imagine it's been quite a stressful time.

At the moment I feel a bit like a spare part, no idea what I'm doing or what I can say to help my dad. It also feels like my head's spinning with all that's happened.

Does anyone else feel like this?

  • Welcome to the group BigGirl 28. Sorry you find yourself here but pleased you have found us. It is a very stressful time at the beginning and emotions and thought will run high. You will have so many questions but for now, just being a support to your Dad and your family will be a comfort, even it it isn't physically in these Covid times. I think there are support groups in the community who are meant for the families of cancer sufferers so have a nosy around for them too as they will cover things less likely to come up in this group too. You are of course welcome here too. What you are feeling is totally understandable and you can discuss anything here or even to an expert (see the menu above). It would be good to initially set up a profile so we know your individual situation. That way people in a similar position can connect with you.

It will be useful too to learn what type of lung cancer you Dad has, there are a range of types and stages with each often using different courses of treatment. He may not know yet and be undergoing the tests to determine these. When we know where you are at, we can really begin to help.

Take care and be assured, we all have your back.

    Sally
