Had a X-ray which showed a lung module. They did a CT without contrast and came back showing 8mm lung nodule. Also showed a significantly enlarged pretracheal lymph, undermined. Doctor gave me option of Pet CT or wait and check again in 3 months. Nodule was not there in 2014 X-ray. Not sure what to make of all of this and whether it means cancer or something else. Have not told my wife yet, did not want to ruin Christmas but the internal fear is eating me up.
Hi skaufman100 and welcome to the group, but sorry you find yourself here. The fact that the doctor is happy to wait 3 months makes me think he’s not over concerned. Not knowing what it is can be more scary than actually knowing. Can you put it out of your mind for the next 3 months ? Not any easy decision for you to make. I would try and talk to your wife. I’m sure she wouldn’t want you to be coping with this on your own.
Take care
Chelle, I think I would go crazy waiting 3 months to know the answer. He was fine with me doing a PET, so now I wait.
Hi Scaufman, I have two nodules and a tumour, after research I have done over the last nine months, I would try not to worry about these too much, your PET Scan even may show elevated FDG in these nodules, in my PET Scan this showed up a polip in my colon as well as two nodules in my lung and unfortunately a tumour, all with elevated FDG, Colon polip once removed and tested it was benign as the majority of polips are.
Had five polips removed over the last seven years all were benign
Try not to worry too much about this, it appears your doctor is not worried, all the best for the new year.
Peripheral ground glass is an image found on a CT scan, from my research this can be seen with inflamation, I have Radiation Pnumontis, which showed up as speckled white on an X-ray I had, as far as I know after research ground glass is a very hard thing to decipher can be caused by inflamation, I am not a doctor, but having researched this is an area that can not be evaluated with any degree of diagnosis.
Hope this helps.
Scaufman you did make the right decision to have a PET Scan, to be on the safe side, having an enlarged pretracheal lymph as well as ground glass, why do you have to wait three months? Sorry from your writing I am not clear on if you have had a PET Scan as yet, if so when was it, as results should come back quite quickly, I had my PET Scan on the 23 of April was informed soon after.
I assume you meant to say INDETERMINATE and not what you have put which is undermined, my diagnosis States "Indeterminate 2mm nodule in the left upper lobe and indeterminate 2mm nodule in the right lower lobe requires interval surveillance". Which I believe means watch and see
I spelt Pneumonitis wrong, in my earlier post.
