Hey everyone
I have just joined the site & groups, We have just been told that our dad has stage 4 lung cancer & its spreading to his bones. We are unsure about what sort of treatment he could possibly have or if he is even able to undergo any treatment at all. My mum and sisters are taking it really badly and i’m struggling to cope with it all.
Any tips at all?
Thankyou x
Hi gresa and welcome to the group. I’m sorry to hear of your Dad’s diagnoses. There are many of us here with stage 4 lung cancer, and some have unfortunately spread to the bone too. There are lots of treatment for lung cancer now, but what type of treatment he may be able to have will be down to his Oncology team. Has he got a further appointment at the hospital? What usually happens is, once all the relevant tests have been done, which may include CT and PET scans, and possibly a biopsy, they have what is called a MDT meeting. This is when several doctors meet to discuss the patient, and set out a treatment plan. Your Dad would then see the oncologist to discuss the treatment options. Once you know what the treatment is, there are lots of people here who can share their experience with you.
You might also want to join the Family and friends - Discussion Forum , as there will be many people there in a similar situation to yourself.
Take care
