Hello, hope someone could help, I had a CT scan for lung cancer ( Pancoast cancer) on 13th June, went to see GP next day and he told me that the results is T2aN3M0 ( possibly stage 3b), and also was told that MDT meeting due on 18th June.
Anyone know how long it take from MDT to contact me, will they contact me by phone or letter? I’m so worry that during this time the cancer has spread to other part of body so it will become a stage 4 when I start my treatment, please help.
Hi kiml the time for meeting oncologist/surgeon is usually UP TO a week it's actually quite rare to get results next day and you can't get that kind of diagnosis from a ct scan you need a Pet scan at least and then a biopsy. And it's HIGHLY UNLIKELY that things will progress that fast. You need to stop scaring yourself keep away from Google it's usually wrong and calm down I am actually in hospital now had a nodule removed from right lung yesterday and not particularly worried at all. Best of luck to you.
Hi Kimi , I agree with Summersdad that you need more investigations, pet scan and biopsy to get a diagnosis and rare for a GP to have results of ct scan the next day and to tell you it's possibly stage 3 without further tests .
Stay away from Dr Google , your oncologist and surgeon are the ones to listen to NOT Google so calm yourself down , we have all " been there " waiting on results so we know what it's like .
Take care x
Thank you for Summersdad and Alexi52 for your kind words and supportive messages, this waiting time had cause me a lot of anxiety and depression, I can’t eat and sleep well, woke up every 2 hours every night. I know I need to stay strong and positive, but saying it is easy, actually doing it is a lot harder.
Hi Kimi , you need to eat and sleep to be strong for whatever treatments you have to have . Do you have support someone you can talk to ? You can always pop on here and have a talk with people who know what you're feeling as I said " we've all been there " .
I found it useful to have a wee note book and jot down any questions you have for oncologist / surgeon that way you won't leave their office and saying "drat , I meant to ask this or that " plus it's useful to take note of what they say so when your mind stops birling you can look back at the questions and answers given
Take care x
Hi KimL have you seen an oncologist yet. I’m surprised that a GP has given you the scan results, and only the day after a Ct? It can take 14 days to report on Ct scans at the best of times.
Waiting is a very anxious time, but I agree with what others have said, you still need further tests before a diagnoses is possible, so you will have a fair time to go yet. Most diagnoses take up to 12 weeks, sometimes more, so you need to be prepared, look after yourself whilst you wait, eat a healthy diet and I know you will struggle with sleep, but try to keep to a routine.
Let us know if you hear anything, but I expect you will find appointments coming very soon.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
