Hi all
I’ve been off site for a while plodding on like you do. About two weeks ago I noticed a tender spot under my bra close to the scar point.
It’s getting worse and I’ve tried everything to stop it. There’s no sore or red skin. It’s two years since my surgery. Has anyone had a similar problem?
I am starting to think it may be back!
Hi Artsie it could be scar tissue which develops over time. I have scar tissue from my hysterectomy ( where my cancer started) which is causing lots of issues years later. With anything new though it’s always best to get it checked out.
Thanks Chelle
It feels more like bone than the scar which it sensitive at times . I’ll phone my team and ask for them to bring forward my yearly scan.

Hi
Did you have any radiotherapy to the area after surgery? I have a tender spot from my lung radiotherapy in December 2023, but I didn't have surgery. I have been told by my oncologist that it is one of my ribs. Late onset side effects can happen, sometimes years later from radiotherapy and can cause rib tenderness, also tenderness in the sternum close to the area treated, sometimes a small rib fracture can occur.
I still have permanent rib and sternum tenderness from my breast cancer surgery and subsequent radiotherapy - and that was 35 year's ago.
Hope you get things sorted soon.
Best wishes.
Ann
This is true Sanguinesse radiotherapy is the gift that keeps on giving! I have nerve damage in my back from radiation, it feels like hot pins and needles, and then I get shooting pain like electric shock that travels up my neck. This only started 10 years after the radiotherapy, my oncologist said that it is quite usual to experience neuropathy years later.
Hi Ann
Thanks for your thoughts.
It makes sense.
Radiotherapy does a lot of damage on its way to eradicating the Cancer.
I didn’t have radio therapy. Aug 21 I had rectal cancer with a massive op to remove a four inch cancer
That went well I’m only adding this info because on my yearly monitoring scan picked up the lung cancer.
So I was in and had top right lob and bottom segment. Which is where my tender spot it. So it could be back.
I phone my lung nurse and she’s got me a TAP scan with contrast on Sunday.
Amazing support from them
She recommended pop to see my GP so they could check it out.
Thank goodness for the cancer team
Ann
Thought I’d update.
I’ve had results for TAP CT SCAN.
There is nothing sinister. The nodules on the left lung are stable and no sign of an issue with the rib
Best wishes to all here.
I have been told that I have reached full capacity of lungs with what I’ve had removed I am as good as it gets.
So cardio is out making it challenging managing the house etc.
etc
