Hello ,
My mum has just completed her first week with the combined Chemotherapy/radiotherapy treatment for NSLC. 5 more weeks to go.
We’re hoping for cure , I am just wondering if anyone has any positive feedback regarding this combined treatment, inc any side affects or tips as to how to manage the treatment. It’s early days for us at the moment but ready to go into week 2.
Any advice , tips , help, positivity would be much appreciated.
xx
Hi Loki Lad
I hope your mum hasn't had too many side effects from her first treatment.
I'm not a member of this group but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be more easily spotted.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your mum's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Thank you , very much for taking the time out to reply I will have a look at my profile.
Mum has had her second chemotherapy treatment followed up by radiotherapy today . Her bloods are looking ok , hope this pattern continues.

That's great to read that your mum is coping with her chemotherapy and radiotherapy. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this continues.

Hi Loki lad, I have not had chemo, but I have had radiotherapy on my lung. From my experience I got more tired as the treatment continued, and as the radiotherapy builds up in your system for some time after the treatment has finished, the side effects continued for some months after. The radiologist will make mum aware of this, and also advise about creams etc for skin irritation.
Hope the treatment continues well for her.
