Hi , I'm new in here but as i read posts I wonder that i seem to have little in treatments , when I first was diagnosed with lung cancer I had operation to remove small cancer and part of the lobe upper left lung , I never saw an oncologist just check ups at respitory clinic which then showed up a small growth , 1cm ,4yrs after op , I saw oncologist and I had 4 weeks of radio and I will see oncologist in November after I have scan to see if the radio has killed it of , maybe I'm lucky ?that they were caught very early and I don't need further treatment , oncologist is aware that in my bowel something lights up on PET scan ( since 2018) but having had colonoscopy 2 times and sigmoidoscopy 2 times he cannot remove it all , so far it's benign but because of my other health issues he won't risk operating to remove it 3cm , even should it change to cancer he won't risk operating '"there is nothing that can be done " it's like having a timebomb waiting to go off , it may not but as it has potential to change and nothing can be done ? I had breast cancer 10 yrs ago but lung cancer was a primary and recurrance is on the "stitch line " I feel I've hit the 70 + of age and now on scrap heap
Demand some help with this from your consultant or GP. That is not good enough. You need more support than this. xx
I had lung cancer twice only had operations without the need fir any other treatment because was very early stages .that's me finished until next Yr with ct scans etc it was a Yr ago last month, but main reason for messaging bk is I had pet scan last year which show a light up but under further investigation it was polyps and had them removed a couple year ago but never been followed up , x
I hope you get get an answer or reassurance from somewhere, but would like to say you sound like your a fighter as you've came thro so much and your not on the scrap heap , thoughts are with you , sy strong
Thank you so much for your very kind words, sometimes I think " just give up " but my son and friends tell me NO ! You know I don't feel as though I have come through a lot but my friend says I have , when I sit and think of what I've had as well as cancer then yes I have come through a lot so I must be string , or as my son says " stubborn" and grandaughter says I'm tough
Thanks again
Hi there , it's because of size and one of the reports said it was high grade dysplasia which means it could change is why I'm worried , it's benign and hopefully stays that way , i naively thought they kept an eye on these things you know " catch it early " is their motto but not always followed .
Thanks and I hope you feel better after recovering from operation, did you have VATS op , wonderful what they can do these days .
Take care x
Hi Sassay
I really feel thay Bowel cancer is extremely treatable and is very slow moving.
You deserve a full explanation as to why there’s glowing showing after your pet scan. They do not have a clue what it is like to walk around with that thing in you. So they need educating
If the PET scan shows that it’s slow moving and they want to monitor then that’s exactly what they should consult you about. If it’s glowing and you want it binned then they need to listen to you and give you an explanation why they are not treating it
I think it may be worth ringing your colonoscopy nurse there should be a number for you and explain how you are feeling with luck she will be able to give you advice as to next steps
My nurses were really supportive, I hope that you have the support you need
Best wishes
Ann
Hi there , very true they are not walking about with it in their body , as far as nurse and surgeon are concerned its benign . Doesn't matter I have had cancer 3 times there is no worry on their part to put me at my ease re bowel , I just feel I've been sidelined 71 yrs old pushed aside
Apparently oncologist is aware of the bowel part lit up but at moment getting lung cancer recurrance treated was priority
Take care x
Oh well. They are wrong and you are right and deserving of an explanation
You go for it
I hope that when they explain it’ll make sense.
I’ve found that medics make decisions for the very best reasons but forget to explain to the person that is actually going through it

Hi there , it's because I had lung resection , I have atrial fibrillation, COPD and I'm on Warfarin for life for previous blood clots on lung that and now cancer has shown its face again in my lung that I'm high risk for operation , how I am managing to get through all that and still can manage on my own i don't know plus arthritis is / osteoporosis in knees and back . It's the fact he said nothing could be done that got me but then it's not his call , he is a surgeon , should it ever turn malignant is that then down to Oncologist ?
Sorry it's a bit long winded but I don't really have anyone else to discuss this with .
