Hi , I'm new in here but as i read posts I wonder that i seem to have little in treatments , when I first was diagnosed with lung cancer I had operation to remove small cancer and part of the lobe upper left lung , I never saw an oncologist just check ups at respitory clinic which then showed up a small growth , 1cm ,4yrs after op , I saw oncologist and I had 4 weeks of radio and I will see oncologist in November after I have scan to see if the radio has killed it of , maybe I'm lucky ?that they were caught very early and I don't need further treatment , oncologist is aware that in my bowel something lights up on PET scan ( since 2018) but having had colonoscopy 2 times and sigmoidoscopy 2 times he cannot remove it all , so far it's benign but because of my other health issues he won't risk operating to remove it 3cm , even should it change to cancer he won't risk operating '"there is nothing that can be done " it's like having a timebomb waiting to go off , it may not but as it has potential to change and nothing can be done ? I had breast cancer 10 yrs ago but lung cancer was a primary and recurrance is on the "stitch line " I feel I've hit the 70 + of age and now on scrap heap
Don’t apologise this is the perfect place to speak your mind
I really think that they need to discuss their decision with you and give you the option of radiotherapy if you choose
I was offered watch and wait , SABR or the operation
if you’re on the watch and wait maybe they need to explain that to you. Then you could put it to the back of your mind as they’re monitoring it
Ann
Hi Ann , radiotherapy is out as I've just had 4 weeks of it for recurrant lung cancer , anymore and I'll glow in the dark I'll ask about " watch and wait " see what they say and unless its malignant they won't be doing anything , but I will say about follow up tests to keep an eye on it be it ct scans or sigmoidoscopy 's .
Thank you for your help and support
