Hi everyone.
I thought I would put a link here to explain about your Profile page page. It is very helpful if you can all take a minute to fill out your journey on your profile page, as this really helps others to answer any questions you may have. It doesn't matter if it is your own cancer journey, or whether you are here to support a loved one. This is very helpful to the newcomers, to see that people have been on a similar journey to the one they are starting. You just click on your username then select profile. You can edit this information at anytime, and update the journey as you go. You can have a look at my profile to get some idea, just click on my user name or picture to go to my profile.
Thank you.
It’s taken me a few months but thanks to your reminder I’ve finally updated mine I didn’t know where to start but once I did I couldn’t stop, so apologies for the waffle, lol!
That's a great idea will update my journey and hopefully help someone
Sharon
Hi Chellesimo, I’ve recently joined and have just read your profile. I’m sorry to hear about the difficult journey you’ve been experiencing.
This is probably well out of date now as it’s several months since your post but I wanted to say, keep your eye on your gallbladder. I had pain and sickness 5 yrs ago, ignored it and hoped it would go away, but ended up having an emergency cholecystectomy. A week later and it would have burst, probably causing sepsis. Of course, with many people it never comes to that!
I hope your various cancer treatments are still keeping it at bay although sorry to hear about all the side effects.
Hi Chocaholic28 that is very kind of you to mention this. I am sorry to hear you had an emergency cholecystectomy, but glad to hear they caught it in time! I have changed my diet, and I have lost one and a half stone so far. Thankfully the pain has gone, so hopefully this will be enough to help the gallbladder.
I hope you are finding your way around the forum ok? Please let me know if I can help in any way.
Hi Chelle, glad to hear your pain has gone. I was told that fat can trigger it so avoided it as much as poss. Since having had the GB out, I’ve been careful but can now fortunately tolerate a certain amount.
I’m gradually learning how this site works. I’ve actually joined it on my husband’s behalf as he's recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. He just doesn’t do forums whereas I’ve always found them helpful and supportive.
Kind regards, Hazel
Hi Hazel, I am glad you are finding the site helpful. How is your husband doing? Some people can't talk about their diagnoses and tend to bottle it up. If he does decide he wants to speak to someone, he can call the Macmillan support line which is completely confidential. 0808 808 00 00
Hi Chelle, It was seen early on fortunately (on a PET scan for his prostate cancer) and he’s awaiting an upper left lobectomy, hopefully next Monday depending on bed availability. We’re now isolating in preparation.
I’m really not sure he’d ring the support line. He had a Macmillan form from our surgery to complete regarding any concerns but just put it aside and said he didn’t need anything from them. I know he is concerned even so; in fact he’s asked our friend to give him some reiki.
I hope you continue to get positive results from the Zoladex. That kept my father-in-law’s cancer under control for many years.
Hazel
