Hello..

i ve recently been diagnosed with non small cell adeno carcinoma... right lung . I ve been told that it’s moved from my lung to my chest cavity and is in the fluid there. i ve had a biopsy yesterday but still to see the oncologist on the 29th... feeling confused and finding it hard to wait until the 29th for more information ....

Any similar experiences out there ?
thanks

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I didn't have the same type of cancer as you but I do understand how confusing it can all be to start with and how hard waiting for results and tests can be.

Although I don't have the experience you're looking for I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Replying to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll hopefully be seen by someone who can help you.

It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far in your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Purpleorchid123 I am so sorry to hear about your diagnoses. This is the hardest bit. You have had all the tests done, including the biopsy, and now you have to wait for the results. It is the reporting on these tests that takes the time, and a biopsy is the longest. Once all your tests are back they hold a meeting, called an MDT meeting, where your oncologist, and other health specialists, look at the results and discuss the best treatment plan for you. This is usually held on the same day as your Oncology appointment, or the day before.

There are lots of treatments for non small cell cancer, treatment has come a long way in recent years. I know how scared you are right now, not knowing which treatment you will have, but please know that your team will be doing their very best to get the right treatment for you.

Wishing you all the very best for the 29th. Please let us know how you get on.
