Hi, has anyone else had issues with eating with a patient with lung cancer? My partner has ceased treatment a few months ago as toxicity was too much of a concern. About 3 months ago he started to bThinkingome very picky about eating and dropped lots of food from his diet. Since then,he does not eat any solids at all, other than very occasionally if i can catch him in the right mood, he will have nearlThinkinga quarter of an apple,so I don't think it is a physical problem.  All of the various medical people that we come across,I.e, palliative care nurses, dietitian, gps etc don't seem to understand that wThinkingn I say nothing solid passes his lips, I mean nothing! He is existing on 3 or 4 protein build up shakes a day, but dietitian is telling him that he needs to eat other foods.Thinking!

  • Hi  I am sorry your partner is struggling to eat, I know how frustrating this must be for you. I think you need to go back to the medical team and explain that he really isn’t eating anything, and you need help with this! I’m sorry I don’t know what else to suggest.

  • I was in a similar ppsotion early last year and really could not afford to lose weight as I had dropped 4 stone in my pre diagnosis period.
Have you tried home made soups blended smooth adding a bit of cream bumps calories, home made milk shakes made with full fat milk and adding ice cream if he likes thicker shakes, scrambled eggs made very smooth with cream added. One of my favourites was mashed potatoes mashed really smooth with a lot of butter and cream added with gravy.
Once I started to gain weight and get some energy from food the eating was not such a battle.
Very annoying your dietian is saying got to eat but not really coming up with suggestions.mine was very good and the advice really was ro add butter, swap to full fat milk and full fat versions of food.
