Hi all, hoping for some advice, I'm 2 months post radiotherapy, 10 chest and 10 head, i have been feeling dizzy light headed a few days strange sort of feeling like a buzz, anyone had this?
Feels worse as the day gets later, i know this is lung group but they do give it to SCLC to head, maybe Gina could help as she had head radio, did post in radio but its a slow reply room,
Thanks Ray
Aww Ray
Sorry you are not feeling well.
Yours was preventative full brain radiotherapy? Not because they had seen anything going on in a scan?
I had problems with my ears on and off and still do at times. A bit like I have been underwater or waiting for them to pop.
when did they last syphon some blood or scan you?
Anything else? How is your balance? Do you ever feel nauseous or weak? Tiredness? Headaches?
Full bran radiotherapy can have a range of effects either short term or some that happen after some time.
I take regular anti seizure meds now (could be the radiotherapy or the craniotomies that triggered the need for them). When I occasionally forget to take them I know that I have forgotten. I have taken to using the pill tabards again to ensure I do my best to remember.
You know what my answer is by now Ray. You really must contact your team/GP and highlight that you are getting new symptoms or if you are worried the line here is open to 8 tonight and from 8am to 8pm each day on 0808 808 00 00.
I hope they can put your mind at ease or on the right track to sort it.
I will try and find a link on full brain radiotherapy and it's effects for you now.
Here is MacMillan's advise on radiotherapy to the brain. It doesn't say much really.
Hope they help you Ray
Thank you, Gina
No balance problems, or nauseous headaches or weak, maybe its a very diff feeling of tiredness, but i will wait weekend and then phone around Monday if still there , when i hope its gone by, like it did in other places in my body, Thanks for links.
Did talk to my own GP about another thing and i asked her and she said it well could be radio, but talk to Mcmill, did not a frigging clue.
Ray
That you are not getting other things all sounds reassuring. It so hard to tell by how you describe it what it could be. I sometimes get like pulsing in my ears but that is about it. I guess you could say that's a buzz.
ETA: When i felt light headed and dizzy it was usually to do with my bloods being low, hence why asked when they last took some?
You should also be chasing your scan appointment too Ray, my memory can be rubbish but I remembered you need to do that.
Hopefully it will sort it self but if not absolutely get hold of someone that will help you.
I hate it when they can't answer and palm you off to somewhere else. Were MacMillan helpful or have you not asked them as yet?
Wish I could help you more, other than to say if it isn't accompanied by other symptoms that it sounds reassuring but of course I am not medical at all.
Thanks
Not had bloods done months, had chit chat Onc on 7th July moved to 14 Juiy, but he said he is moving the scan to another hossi, cos of covid, i will start email tonight then call next week.
The time when this started i called the McMill nurse they gave me number to, few days no reply just voice mail did nor even reply to that, came on here in the end to get some answers.

Hi Ray
Was your radiotherapy to the head preventative or to address a tumour? If preventative, the radiotherapy is a much lower dose than the tumour treatment dosage and unlikely to be causing any problems 2 months later (other than an increase in senior moments; I speak from experience!).
I know it can be difficult but please don't assume that every ache, pain or strange feeling is cancer related. It could be a number of things including tiredness, an ear or sinus infection, a good old fashioned virus (not Covid-19!) etc. Best to get it checked out though if it is still an issue in the morning.
Kegsy x
Hey Ray
Well I think Bob's your Uncle, Fanny's your aunt, you need to have some blood taken to ensure that all your level's are well and in the ranges. Let the vampires have a little, for a full blood count, just to be sure. I know that may be difficult to organise right now but I think it would help put your mind at ease.
Hmm that chit chat is quite some time away and to be delayed is not the best. Maybe try your GP for the bloods?
I am sorry to hear that you are not getting the help you require. Chase it like it's your favourite actress or similar and I cross fingers for you that someone helps.
