My husband had his last week after an xray and ct scan showed a shadow on his lung...struggling with the wait for the results...which may or may not be cancer according to his consultant...coping mechanisms at this early stage would be appreciated!
Hi Hils13 my hubby's pet=scan came back negarive that deternibed what kind of chemo they were going to give him. That starts on the 5th july
Hi joyce...the bronchoscopy biopsy was negative in my husbands case and the specialist nurse said that meant no cancer...but i am of course wondering on the need for the pet scan....good luck for the 5th and i will post again as soon as we have a date and results of this next step.
I hope you are looking after yourself..it gets very hard I know xx
Hi Hils, pet-scan checks all over body for any cancer elsewhere .Why did your hubby have to have a bronchoscpy in first place? Thanks for your support it's hard to think of myself while hubby is having to go through this we have to be strong xx
sorry just realised you told me why he has the bronchoscopy xx
Hi we have the appointment now for the PET scan tomorrow 4th at 230pm ...I hope all is going as well as can be with you and hubby and I will post again once results are in..
Xx
So the PET scan has shown a problem in hubbys upper bowel...an area which lit up as well as the area in his lung...next step a colonoscopy to look at this ... and then possible surgery on his lung.. to meet surgeon soon to discuss if he is suitable for this...so far no cancer diagnosis is confirmed but they seem to be skirting the edges of saying outright ....anyone else had similar in their journey as we feel confused by all this...
Hi sorry its been a while...been trying to pretend this is going away but after a PET scan 2 areas lit up...lung and bowel...colonoscopy only found polyps so that was a relief...been staged as T2B ..early and no spread so a lung biopsy is scheduled for this week and also a meeting with oncology re a new radiotherapy SABR....has anyone else got experience of this?
Hope you are all doing ok...or as well as can be..hubby seems well apart from another chest infection but taking steroids helps him...
Will post again after the 2 appointments this week...
