Dad is up for his first treatment of chemo on Monday he is having Cisplatin and pemetrexed , at the minute he is very constipated, I was curious to see if the treatment will go ahead and how long it usually takes to have the treatment. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
many thanks jules
Hi Jules
I had carboplatin with a different mixers. I think it took about 6 hours or so. If I can remember the first one about 10 minutes, an hour of fluid, I think an hour for the carboplatin (cisplatin I believe was two) and then another hour of fluid after,
I would give the nurses here a call about what is best for the constipation. Call 0808 808 00 00 and this should get him going. I doubt they will delay the treatment, however you are warned it can also make you more constipated, so probably best to get him going before the treatment too.
I did do a post the other day on my experience which I will post the link here too about chemotherapy. A couple of others had your Dad's chemotherapy and also wrote about there's so may help too.
