Hello - 12 months ago I had tests on a lung nodule that turned out to be non malignant. 12 months on it has changed in nature and a PET scan has shown moderate uptake. I have a bronchoscopy/biopsy next Tuesday. I'm just asking, if it comes back non malignant again, will I have to go through the tests again in 12 months time? It's been quite stressful!!!!! thank you.

The bronchial wash came back non-malignant, but consultant is still not 100% sure, so is sending me to Birmingham for an ENB (electromagnetic navigational bronchoscopy). I had to look it up! Has anyone had one?

  • Can't answer your question but husband has the same procedure Tuesday too. Fingers crossed that you get good results.

  • Hello ,

I don't know your history or whether you've had treatment before, but I would think if you have another scan in 12 months time that shows a change from your most recent one this will have to be investigated again so that treatment can be given to deal with it if necessary.

It would help us reply to your posts if you could add to your profile with a brief summary of your story / treatment to date. To do this on your home page click on the chair, top right, then "profile" and then "edit". Once you have written something don't forget to save it.

  • So similar situation a node was previously non malignant but recent ct scan showed it had enlarged and further pet scan it showed up flowing like a Belisha beacon.. so I have had a ctDNA blood test before any biopsy. This is new for people with lung or breast cancer. It is looking for the dna from tumour in the blood so non invasive. But the tumour must be shedding. I know it is not commonly used at the moment

so if this is non malignant but it shows up again after time, see if a ctDNA blood test is available as this is non invasive.
