Hello, my name is Marzena In 2024, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I underwent chemotherapy, a mastectomy, and radiation therapy. Now I have fluid on my chest; most likely, the cancer will return. I have small children, ages 5 and 6, and we don't have much family here. My husband has to work to make a living and pay the bills. I have a question: is there anywhere we can apply for childcare assistance?
Hi Kokosanka I am so sorry to hear you have been through all of this, especially with such young children. I know how worrying this must be for you now to have this fluid on your chest.
Although your husband works full time, you may still be eligible for some financial support. Can I suggest you contact the MacMillan support line on 0808 808 00 00 and they will be able to go through this with you.
Hi Chelle, thank you for your words of comfort, it means a lot to me️. Do you know what the situation is with this fluid in the pleura? Does this mean it's over? There's no chance of recovery? I don't know anything about it.
I don’t have any personal experience with this , but I would think that they would need to test the fluid to see if there are cancer cells present. Depending on how much fluid is present they may do a drain to remove the fluid. What have you been told so far? How was this fluid found ?
I had trouble breathing, a weak pulse, and low blood pressure. They gave me oxygen, then drained the fluid, and there was quite a lot of fluid. They've now released me, but they'll put in a drain for me to take home on Thursday. I don't see it in the best light, but thank you for your support. Thank you for being able to support me, even though it's probably not easy for you yourself. That's very important to me
it must feel easier with the fluid drained. Please do not give up hope. There are so many treatments available.
Hi there . I've had this fluid twice . Once 5 + years ago and once 4 years ago. I had it drained and tested . Don't worry about draining , it's not as bad as it sounds . It certainly doesn't mean it's over for you , I'm living a fairly normal life and on treatment every 3 weeks . It must be so worrying for you with such small children . I hope you find some support .
