I finished my 30 sessions of Radiotherapy on 4th October and lately I seem to be much more breathless in the last week. Has anyone else has this and how long did it last? I know the lungs can be damaged during Radiotherapy but am also panicking that this is a spread of the cancer! Having a CT scan later today and then have the anxiety of waiting for the results.
Thank you. X
THat is a lot of radiotherapy RainbowRobins, I only had 5 large doses of SABR I am left with a severe cough , massive loss of weight , increased breathless. However things have slightly improved in the last few weeks so I would say never give up and try to rebuild your health like you would after any other treatment. I decided I felt iller because of the large cancer diagnosis, plus three injections for protection from viruses and maybe a winter bug caught while going out to get injections. (who knows). my last scan showed no change on the side treated with radiotheraphy. I hope your scan is a better result for you maybe even cured. Have to say I have not met anyone yet who has not had some side effects . THey say tell the nurses but what is the point if there is no treatment they can give for the symptoms. I agree with you too we don't know if its worsening of the existing cancer. I found the side effects got worse before they started to lesson but have still not gone away, my treatment ended in July 2024and I can say the treatment caused more problems than the diagnosed cancer. I hear many people who are pleased with their outcome so I would say give yourself time to recover but if it gets worse call 999 as suffering in silence just makes people think your not ill. Every best wish for a good recovery now, will be thinking of you
Thank you so much for the reply. It gives me hope that things will improve gradually. The treatment is definitely a worse feeling than the actual initial Cancer symptoms. So sorry that you felt so unwell. Hope you continue to improve.
Take care. X
