I needed to come on here to vent. Just feeling really emotional today.
My Dad has SCLC, currently undergoing chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Having his third cycle today, which was supposed to be last week but had to be delayed due to chest infection.
I enquired about G-CSF injections this morning with his lung nurse, and now waiting to speak to chemo unit. This is his 3rd chest infection since the end of July. My sister mentioned the injections to him this morning and he got a bit annoyed that he didn’t know anything about them or I was enquiring about them. I don’t know why it has upset me so much, I took it personally. I wasn’t trying to tell him what to do, I just enquired if he could have them and help him try to avoid further chest infections as he also has mild COPD.
I think he is depressed. He can’t seem to pull himself out of his low mood. Sometimes we see his spark and sense of humour but he just stares blankly sometimes. It was gutting his chemo and immunotherapy got delayed last week but the positive from that was a CT scan that showed shrinkage in his lung tumour to almost half.

Hi Lucie. Your Dad is going through so much he is bound to be feeling low. But when we are stressed we take things out on the ones we love the most. We don't mean too, it is just human nature.
Has your Dad got anyone he can talk to outside of the family. He can talk to his GP about counselling or he can always call the Macmillan support line on 0808 808 00 00.
