The result of my scan it was back in both lungs and 2 lymph nodes in the middle of the chest . appointment with my oncologist who arranged for a MRI scan of back and scull, afraid It could be brain mets Results devastating , back was ok but I had several mets on brain. went home in a bit of a daze.however my oncologist arranged to have a sample of my original tumour tested ,and he has put me on a target drug .Osimertinib. 1 tablet a day . I have been taking it for 2 weeks now. only side effect so far dry mouth, and tired. finger tip are dry with couple on splits . I,m just taking each day as it comes.I am very lucky I have a close family I know they will look after me ,one of my son had already put me a stair lift in. would love to hear from anyone on the same drug. best wishes Ellen.
Hi
i don’t often post but popped in to see how folks are. Sorry to see your news but very much hoping new targeted drug does the job. They seem to have great success with these targeted drugs. Look forward to hear things are improving xx
Hiya I'm on same drug been on it 11 days now and side affects are dry mouth and a rash on my face and feeling tired. So not to bad and now the drug is taking hold I can feel a difference. I managed to play walking football this week keeping active is a must, or any kind of exercise is good if you can. Good luck on your treatment
Hi
the best news. so glad for you as I’m sure you know it’s working
I’m on a clinical trial that has been working well since late January. Of course every ache and pain I get I immediately think and woke last night a bit sweaty and again the old panic button but I guess that’s just the nature of the beast! We must be just so grateful for treatments and remember to think positive.
lovely to hear from you xx
Hello Marimba. I have been on Osimertinib for almost 2.5 years. You are on one of the best drugs available at the moment for improving progression free rates, and with very few side effects. If you want or need any specific advice please feel free to contact me
John
Hi John Boy2, so glad to hear you have been on Osimertinib for 2.5 years , I have no bad side effects as yet been on for only 3 weeks . will keep you in mind if I need advice thankyou TC Ellen,
Just to chip in! Marimba is a fantastic beautiful woman who is my world! We are doing pretty well really! The new drug is making a difference! Her Oncologist who I share as well are great! A wonderful team in Cheltenham and Gloucester! Had a break in the Lakes which although was a nightmare drive on the M5 and M6, We had been looking forward to the family break but of course we were anxious as to whether the side effects would put a brake on it! Thankfully nothing that wasn't manageable occured, Another outing last night to the Theatre in Cheltenham to see "Educating Rita" very good too ! The Theatre is Marimbas passion! Her knowledge of actors and stars is amazing! Gregory Peck is one who knew Marimba by her real name! Sean Connery another! from her time working in London as a young woman! A lifetime ago! No doubt I will be scolded for this!
Hi
lovely to see what great support she has and now that this drug is making all the difference.
great news
I really pleased you are getting on with Osimertinib and not getting many side affects. I just feel tired during the day but its getting better day by day. I'm back playing walking football, and hopefully a short break at Stratford along Avon..Take care
Hi Mr Marimba, Although I haven't met Ellen in person, I am very fond of her too, so it is lovely to hear that she has such great support. x
It is good to see that you managed a break in the Lakes. Great to hear that the side effects did not hinder the enjoyment. I love Educating Rita. I adore Julie Winters, so the film is a favourite of mine. How marvellous to have such wonderful memories from her time in London. Sean Connery aye! There are so many shows on at the moment that we would love to see, but I am not brave enough yet to go into London.
I hope you both have a lovely bank holiday weekend. Lovely to hear from yourself, and Ellen. Take good care of each other xx
