The result of my scan it was back in both lungs and 2 lymph nodes in the middle of the chest . appointment with my oncologist who arranged for a MRI scan of back and scull, afraid It could be brain mets Results devastating , back was ok but I had several mets on brain. went home in a bit of a daze.however my oncologist arranged to have a sample of my original tumour tested ,and he has put me on a target drug .Osimertinib. 1 tablet a day . I have been taking it for 2 weeks now. only side effect so far dry mouth, and tired. finger tip are dry with couple on splits . I,m just taking each day as it comes.I am very lucky I have a close family I know they will look after me ,one of my son had already put me a stair lift in. would love to hear from anyone on the same drug. best wishes Ellen.
Hi Ellen, myself and Justme19 were wondering how you were getting on. I am so sorry to hear this Ellen. This must of been a huge shock for you. There are people here on Osimertinib and hopefully they will be along shortly to chat with you. I have heard good things about this drug Ellen, so please keep the faith.
Good to hear you have family rallying round. Great you have a stair lift now, that will definitely make things easier at home for you.
Take care, we are here for you, sending you a big hug x
Thankyou Chelle, I will let you know now how I get on , there are plenty of side effect but hopefully I wont get to many. Ellen.
Hi Ellen,
Sorry to hear your news but I know you are in good hands between your team and your lovely family. Osimertinib has been mentioned quite a few times recently, I think a couple of new members have been started on it and that’s the treatment has been on and also I’m sure they will be around for advice and Chelle & I are always good for a natter!
Hopefully we will hear from you again, even if you just pop on and say hello on lung chatty thread.
Take care
Hi Ellen,
So sorry to hear your news. I hope you manage not to get too many nasty side effects although, dry mouth is bad enough. Good luck with the treatment and response to it.
little-fi x
Hiya I've been on the same treatment Osimertinib for 11 days now and the only side affects are skin rash on my face and dry mouth which is no problem. I can feel a difference now the tablet is in my system. I couldn't cough or sneeze or breath in without it feeling like a knife being stuck into me, but now that is easing. I'm using E45 on my face which is working OK and the same on my hands to stop my nails going brittle. I drink 3 big glassful of water to stop me being hydrated and carry a small bottle of water with a touch of lime to keep my mouth from being dry. I got the lime bit from my dentist, but not to much lime as its an acid and not good for your teach. Hope you get on OK with your treatment Marimba
Hi Muffin break . thankyou for the tips, I am drinking plenty of water,I been on the tablet for nearly 3 weeks, ,did notice the tips of my finger were cracked so I have also been using E45 cream. if this is all I get I'll be happy . take care Ellen
