Blood Tests before Chemo - SCLC

Hi,

Could anyone tell me what blood tests will be checked/done before chemo treatment? My Dad will start his treatment tomorrow and the nurse said the Consultant will check his bloods in the morning before he starts. He’s been in hospital all weekend so had plenty of those done!

Hi Essex1 this is a routine blood test that they will do before every chemotherapy treatment. I believe that red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets are checked.

Hope your dad is doing ok after his hospital stay x

Hello yes I had routine blood test and ECG to check my heart as I start my treatment tomorrow morning, but I'm on a tablet form called Osimertinib.. Hope your dad is OK Rob x
