Hi

I had my first docetaxel infusion on Friday and have to have filgrastim injections for 5 days following.  Saturday I was ok but about an hour after taking it yesterday I started with flu like symptoms.  By the time I was going to bed my head was so heavy and my throat was on fire.  I’ve woke up this morning with just a very sore throat and a bit spaced out.  I’ve taken 2 paracetamol and I’m feeling a little better.

Im just wondering if anyone else has any experience of filgrastim.

Thanks

x

  • Hi mummyb I am sorry I do not have any personal experience with filgrastim injections, but I have looked up the common side effects on the NHS website.

What side effects could I experience? The common side effects you could experience are headache, diarrhoea, vomiting, nausea, tiredness and sore mouth.

So it does sound like it is possibly the filgrastim, but I would call your GP or oncology team to check it is this.

I am glad you are feeling better after the paracetamol

Hopefully someone who has been on this treatment will be along soon to share their experience with you.

    Take care x

Hi mummyb - I had filgrastim after chemo and it didn’t affect me like that at all.  As chelle has checked the side effects you should contact your oncology hotline and get advice.  Be sure to keep hydrated.

    Hi MazLC

i spoke  to chemo nurses this morning. They’re sending a script through to my gp. They weren’t surprised by the side effects.

  • I’m glad you have spoken to the chemo nurse, and they have sorted a prescription. Hope you start to feel better soon.

Yes to all of the above and radiating , severe pain in the spine. This occurred during the fourth session of the injection cycle.
