Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with bowel cancer with liver metastatic in February 2024 and had surgery to remove the primary tumour but left with liver metastatic. Fortunately it had not spread to any other parts of the body. I have had several rounds of chemotherapy, been assessed for liver surgery but this not suitable due to position of the tumour. I was also assessed for SIRT but this was not possible due to the way the blood supply worked to the tumour in the liver. I also developed Lupus as an allergic reaction to the chemotherapy medication. Since then I have had a PLCC line put in to try another chemotherapy drug. Recently I have become very disillusioned as it seems like long waiting times for disappointing results and joined this forum for some support with people with similar experiences.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

If you don't get any replies here, it might be an idea to also join the bowel cancer group as I know you'll find people with secondaries there and it's a more 'active' group.

If this is something that you'd like to do, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi Many thanks for your reply and advice I have now joined the bowel cancer group and put something on about my journey and experience with cancer so far. It is very hard especially  being offered treatment then told it is not suitable in my case. I have not found anyone with similar experiences so far but interested in what o

  • I can only imagine how hard it must be to be told the treatment that you were going to have is not suitable.
