Liver resection

Hi, I have just finished 3 months of chemotherapy, Folfox/Avastin. I'm now having a break to recover before liver resection with a portal vein embolisation next week.

I'm not looking forward to the surgery as it will be open, and that looks like a longer time to recover.

Would like to hear from anyone in a similar situation.

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm not a member of this forum but noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

I'm sure some forum members will be along soon to share their experiences with you.

  • Hello Jonny.  I am just trying to find some others that have had liver resection as my husband had his a week ago.  Did you have surgery.  This will be my husbands second surgery - and to be honest he recovered fairly quickly the first time.  Was home within 5 days and everything healed well.  This time though he is struggling with the pain.  Anyway I do hope all went well for you. • Hi Joanne,

Thanks for your message; it's not a very active forum, so it's nice to hear from you.

Yes, I had surgery about 2 months ago now. That was a lot of fun. :) I had a few issues in the hospital, but it looks fairly successful, and I have just started my second round of chemotherapy. The pain wasn't too bad, and I had some nerve pain in the stomach, which has settled down now. I hope your husband's pain improves soon!
