Rise in CEA and poor liver function tests

Don’t really know wether I’m looking for answers or just needing to talk. My husbands had a reoccurrence of his liver meta following surgery and ablation last year. He was put straight back on Capox but ended up being admitted for two and a half weeks due to chemo induced colitis following the second cycle/ - his treatment was halted and subsequent cycles reduced to 50%. Not surprisingly his latest scan showed some progression and his final cycle was cancelled due to significantly elevated liver function tests. After seeing the consultant they suggested trying a different treatment  which is apparently better tolerated. This doesn’t start until next week and he’s got a pre treatment blood test on Friday. I’m petrified they will cancel again as he thinks he’s starting to show signs of jaundice, although I don’t quite know if this is partially psychological. Has anyone else been in this situation I just really don’t know what to expect as things start to progress and really don’t know where to turn

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

It sounds like a very worrying time for you and I can understand you wanting to connect with others who may be able to share their experiences with you.

If you don't get any replies here it might be an idea to also post in the bowel cancer group, which I can see you've joined, as it's a busier group than this one so you may be more likely to get a reply.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
