I was diagnosed with Bowel cancer 14 months ago I had part of my bowel removed, it had 57  nodes one of which was on the outside of the bowel and cancerous and now have a stoma bag.

I was scanned last month and told I now have a cancer in the liver.

I am meeting a consultant this week as it has been decided after many scans MRI, CT, PET and blood tests the best way forward is surgery to remove a section of my liver.

I am confused as there is so many different reads for my situation.

Do I now have stage 4 cancer?

I have also read that this type of cancer on the liver from bowel cancer is not curable but can be treated to extend life expectancy.

Is this right?

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to read that you've been diagnosed with bowel cancer which has spread to your liver and it's natural to have lots of questions surrounding your diagnosis.

The best people to answer your questions around what stage you are and whether your cancer is curable would be your team as they have all your medical records to hand. I see that you had an appointment with your consultant this week and hopefully they were able to answer these questions for you.

Do come back and let us know how the appointment went.
