Hello everyone , obviously I'm new to this site and very unsure about my discussion ! I was diagnosed with liver cancer formally in March but had been under surveillance since February last year ! I have had non alcoholic fatty liver disease for roughly 10yrsand therefore had been having 6 monthly scans , all normal until last year when they found a nodule on my liver . I was reassured it was nothing to worry about !! Due to covid my next scan was delayed until December when they discovered the nodule had grown so scans , mri's and biopsy were done which by February HCC stage 3 was confirmed . The only treatment by then was to commence Sorenafib . I commenced this on 14th April half strength and because I had no side effects and bloods were all OK this went to full dose 12th May . So far apart from fatigue and diarrhoea I'm tolerating this dose . My next appointment with consultant is 9th June and then a month later I will be scanned for hopefully good news , although I was told to expect 8-12 months . I have no idea how this cancer is going to progress and how I will die !! I'm losing weight now 4/5 kgs since April . I'm very tired but that's to be expected .
I realise this post has rambled far more than I intended but somehow I suppose hearing other people's feelings and experiences may help me . Thank you x
Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community
I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with liver cancer and, although I had a different type to you, I know only too well what a shock this will have been for you.
I think this group is fairly quiet but I'm sure if you have a look through previous posts you should find others who have been diagnosed with HCC.
While you're waiting for replies it would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
x
