I have been trying to find a group of similar age with liver cancer, I am 74 with cirrhosis and liver cancer, I have done as much as possible to make life easier for my wife of 53 years, when the time comes but although I think maybe 3 - 5 more years, the professionals say don’t drink etc and stick to the same reasoning, my worry is are they just trying to keep me alive regardless of my quality of life. That’s why I would prefer to make the most of the time I have left without ever becoming a burden.to my family, Anybody else feel this way?

  • Hi . I can empathise with your thoughts. I have a different type of cancer and was told I was now deemed incurable at the end of last year. At this moment I don't know how much longer I even have. Just finished 6 cycles of chemo, had CT scan after no. 3 tumours regressing nicely. Having a CT scan on 24th May and will see Oncologist as week later I hope the news will be good and I'll have a break until it starts all over again, probably at Xmas.

In the meantime I've been doing things in anticipation of inevitable and doing all the "admin" my hubby of 42 years wouldn't have a clue where to start LOL. We all worry about becoming a burden, that's human nature.

Why not join us in the Living with incurable cancer forum. (Just click on the link I've provided, then click to join) There's a lot of lovely supportive members who will understand what you've written. There's also a lot of humour which is something we need.

Hope to see you there, hugs, B xx

  • Thanks for your reply, I have sorted out as much as I can like yourself, paid for funeral, written a brief history of my early life things my family really don’t know, left a letter for our son with all my wishes etc. all to make life easy for my wife. I’ve also found the British liver trust very good with a monthly on line forum, I find it an easier site to navigate, probably just me being old. Awaiting results of last ct scan should find out next month. Thanks for the link LOL
