Thank you for allowing me to join the group. My 85 year old mother in law has just been diagnosed with liver cancer-doctors haven’t said much other than the mass is large and is pressing on one of her kidneys. She had a biopsy yesterday so we’re awaiting results. Our fear is that already the ward is talking about discharging her back home! We think that she’s still too unwell to go home. She very frail, can hardly walk without getting exhausted and she’s having bad diahorea which doctors don’t think is related the the cancer but has been going on for months now. She also has cardiomyopathy.
What support is is available for her if she is discharged? Will this support be NHS funded or not? It’s a minefield and so stressful. Myself and hubby are the only family living locally and we have a young son to care for too. We’re worried that we can’t give up our lives to give her the care she needs. Any advice would be greatly received x
