Hi I had upper bowel Cancer last year which left me with a ileostomy .  At my second scan this year they discovered I now have

cancer in both lungs and in my liver.  I am so so scared of what to expect next Monday I am having a PICC line put in and on Wednesday I will start my first bought of chemo.  I am 52 the same age as my mum was when she got cancer , and I have exactly what she had.

Most people keep saying that the first session is fine and you won’t feel bad. But I have read that this is not so. Please can anyone help me I feel like my life is falling apart.

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community.

I'm sorry to hear that you have had bowel cancer and have now been diagnosed with cancer in both your lungs and liver. Are these secondary cancers? If so you might like to join the secondary lung cancer and the secondary liver cancer group as well as the bowel cancer group.

I haven't had chemotherapy so really can't help with that but I'm sure if you post in these other groups you will find others who will be willing to share their experiences with you.

To join any or all of these groups just click on the links I've created and then choose 'join this group' on the pages that open. You can then introduce yourself or post a question after selecting 'start a discussion' or join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

When you have a minute it would be really useful if could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Edit Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
