I'm sorry to hear that your dad has been diagnosed with liver cancer but that's great that they already have a treatment plan lined up for him.

I used the group's search facility to see if there were any previous posts that mentioned 'embolisation' but could only find a few that were a couple of years old so those people may no longer be in this group.

I have, however, found this information for you on embolisation treatment for primary liver cancer. I know it's not the same as hearing about other people's experiences but it gives you an idea about what to expect.

You could also post your question in ask a nurse and one of the specialist cancer nurses will reply within 2 working days.

Hi 

I was diagnosed nov 2015 had lot liver removed because 12 tumours were there.

Then 2016 3 times and one session in 2017 I had Tace and was ok which is target chemo first 5 days tired but ok.

My liver so far since then has been clear but the cancer spread to my heart.

So I had a rough 2018 but on Regorafenib now hoping that will slow the tumour in my heart.

I go out all the time holiday walk lots and keep smiling only just retired 60 in couple months.

Its reassuring to hear that you got on well with the TACE treatment. I'm sorry to hear that its spread but I hope treatment continues to go well for you.

My Dad had a consultant radiologist appointment today where they talked through the treatment and the long term plan. He has 2 tumours at the moment, one 5cm and one slightly smaller that we saw on the CT scan today. All seems as positive as it can be currently and they are hoping to treat both in one go but have explained the process if that can't happen.  Following that its lots of monitoring which I'm sure you're familiar with.

my husband had three lots of TAE (embolisation) he was tired afterwards and had stomach pain. A couple of days later he was fine.

Hi Jules, 

I had a 5cm HCC tumer treated this way in June 2019. The procedure to burn the cancer away with micowaves was painless as it was under a GA but somewhat painful when the pain killer wore off. I have had 2 CT scans since then both have shown me to be cancer free. I pray your Dad can have a similar result.
