Hi all, I’ve joined because of my husbands recent diagnosis. For the past 16 months, he’s been in very poor health after losing 4 pints of blood and becoming very aneamic. After many tests, the doctors discovered in October that my husband had Hepatitis C. The damage to his liver is quite severe but is still compensated. He’s now had an MRI and a CT Scan which has shown up a lesion that they suspect is cancer but the hepatitis is masking what they can see. His blood markers are raised and his spleen is enlarged. We are just waiting for treatment to start on the hepatitis so they can repeat the MRI in 2 months which will hopefully give them a clearer view of the lesion. We both got a big shock finding out about the hepatitis but finding out about this probable cancer diagnosis has really knocked us for six.

To be honest, I don’t even know what I’m asking of you all, I’m just trying to remain positive and trying to get my husband to just focus on the Hepatitis treatment first. What’s worrying me most today, is that my husband has been getting sharp pain from his liver. He’s not had pain until now. I feel lost Becki don’t know how to help him.

  • Hi  and welcome to the online community

I'm sorry to hear that your husband might have a cancer diagnosis.

It's great that you're trying to stay positive but it can be very hard at times and sometimes just writing it down, like you've done here, can help. Hopefully the treatment for his hepatitis will start soon and the MRI scan in a couple of months time will find nothing to worry about.

If your husband is still getting a sharp pain, if you haven't done so already, you should get in touch with his hospital team. Any new or worsening symptoms should always be reported.

    Sending a supportive ((hug))
