Hello, I am new to the group, and feeling anxious !
I have been told I have a 3cm lesion on my right kidney. This was found by accident after having a CT scan due to having tummy pain. I have been told it is very likely I have cancer. After having an MRI.
The results from this have been looked at , and I have been told by a specialist nurse that they want to remove this by having a partial nephrectomy. Now waiting for an appointment to go and speak with the surgeon.
Very anxious, and fearful. Trying to get my head around all of this. My health is not great. And have other things going on such as obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, I also have gallstones. And problems with pain after urinating and going alot at night . No urine infection. I also was a smoker for many years, stopped that beginning of January this year. I fear I may have left things too late. But trying to remain positive. Feeling alone and worried for the future.
Hello, just to reassure you that you are not alone. Many of us have been where you are right now and understand the shock of it all and how scary it is. Try to take things one day at a time and one step at a time. You will get through it. Others have health conditions like you and can still have the necessary operation and treatment if that is needed. You will have a team of experts looking after you so hopefully can feel a little reassured by that. They will make a plan for you and you will start to feel a bit more in control. Try to distract yourself from thinking the worst by doing nice things and just be kind to yourself.
I have had a partial nephrectomy 5 weeks ago. My lesion was also 3 cm and most of the specialists thought that it is cancer but it came out as a benign tumor. As your lesion is small, the operation and the risks seem to be less damaging. My tumor was placed in a risky part of the kidney so it required an open surgery. All you need to focus on is to find the best specialist in the field. The rest is not very hard. 5 weeks now and thanks God I can drive, attend to some of my meetings, do some minor house chores and even go shopping and spend time with my friends. Even if it comes out as a cancer, you have a small lesion and it can be treated only with the operation or max you might need to receive an amount of immunotherapy. Do not worry, everything will be fine earlier than you imagine and you will be thankful to find it out very early. Wish you luck and health
Hi, i had a partial nephrectomy 7 weels ago for a 6.7cm tumour, although the pic of it after removal showed it as 8.7cm and the biopsy showed it to be quite aggressive, it wasnt as bad as i thought it would be, i dont have any heath conditions other than asthma which was probably caused by being an ex heavy smoker so cant say if your health conditions will have any affect on things, the worst part for me was the shoulder pain after the op from the air they inflate you with, i can do most things now and i do suffer with fatigue but that will get better, kidney cancer is not as bad as some of the others and i thought ill worry when they give me something to worry about, there was no sign of spread so no further treatment, although that can change but ill cross that bridge if and when i need to.
