My husband was diagnosed with a mass in May 2023. Somethings went wrong which meant by the time this right kidney was removed in late August 2023 the cancer had spread.
we saw specialists in October because our hospital had told us it was a fast growing cancer that needed checking. He started on observation until three weeks later the new hospital found the cancer had spread as the first one didn’t pass in the scans. He had two forms of immunotherapy before a type of chemo tablet. They tried everything.
. There’s more but not here to scare monger. MacMillan were there from the September and the nurses were fantastic, the support from their admin teams getting us help could not be surpassed.
every step up until 17th July 2024 when he left me they were there for us.
More needs to be done to the hospitals to stop this as MacMillan can only do so much but everything they do is amazing ️
Sorry for your loss, it sounds like you both had a difficult time. It's very kind of you to offer support to others when you also have your own grief. Many people have an amazing, fast and supportive experience in the NHS. For others it is a very different experience. I was shocked to read that one third of people do not start treatment within the recommended target Timescale ... that's a lot of people!
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
