Hi I went for an ultrasound scan to check for gall stone s on 29th July this year, which was negative but unfortunately something was found in my right kidney. I was told that very same day it was possibly a Cystic Mass. I was sent for a CT scan on 12th Aug and had my results 30th August. I was told it was a tumour stage 4 as it’s spread to my left lung and lymph node next to the kidney. I’m utterly devastated and so overwhelmed.
I had my Kidney biopsy on Friday 13th September. I was petrified, but it went smoothly.
I am now waiting for the results to see what type of cancer it is in order to go on some targeted treatment. Each stage of this process has been harrowing, I try so hard to stay calm in between but it’s not easy.
The unknown is beyond scary. I am trying to come to terms with my diagnosis, living with Cancer. It’s not something I ever imagined. I’m a 64 year old female who is trying to find the courage and strength to fight this.
What a horrible few months you've been going through, that sounds really tough. I found the waiting for everything was dreadful, and the not knowing really played on my mind.
Hopefully it won't be long until you get some answers and a plan. I can really recommend the Macmillan counselling offer if you need to talk to someone. (https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/get-help/emotional-help/bupa-counselling-and-emotional-well-being-support)
Best of luck for your results, and if you feel able please keep us updated.
I’m very sorry you’re going through this. You’ll feel better once you know what the future plan is regarding treatment going forwards. It’s certainly scary but you’ve got people here to speak to and ask questions. Keep chatting and don’t hold anything to yourself.
I never thought I’d be told I had kidney cancer but the more you chat about it the more common you realise it is x
