Hello ,
I have just had my kidney removed due to stage 3 cancer /grade 4 .
I have been offered to have the drug pembrolizumab.
As I am now high risk of the cancer returning.
Has anyone had pembrolizumab . I have a week to decide to have the drug.
Would appreciate any feedback about side effects.
I had almost all the possible adverse reactions. After first infusion I had high blood pressure, got tablets for control it. After the second infusion my thyroid stopped working, I got tablets to control it. Later I had pneumonitis four times, I got high dosage steroid treatments four times. Last week my doctor stopped pembro because of my lung is too sensitive. And I also have minor side effects. These are the negative things.
BUT despite all this suffering, my CT scan showed that all my metastasis shrank or disappeared :)
Recently I have only lenvatinib tablets and waiting my lung become healthy again, then we continue pembro.
I am very happy that I got this treatment. Everyone tolerate it in different way.
Hi
i am currently on my second round of Pembro , due a third in a couple of weeks . So far I have been all good no adverse effects a( slight headache for a few days after infusion) and living life ! I am aware that the affects can worsen the longer you are on immunotherapy so I’m taking the positives and rolling with them xx hope this helps xx
