Hi I had my rh kidney removed by surgery & not by keyhole as my tumour was 15.5 cm & then had a few infections & had to have it reopened again whilst I was in hospital . I have to go to my gp to have dressings changed every day by my Gp practice who are amazing. I'm still in a lot of pain & exhausted all the time as its now 6 weeks after surgery. I still have a large hole where it easy reopened & it has to heal naturally. Has anyone else come across my situation ??
I'm told I will have to take at least 3/ 4 months off work as my job is quite physical & it really worries me .
Hello I had an open nephrectomy for similar removal of kidney and tumours. I have a horizontal scar. About 14 inches long which was glued Following surgery. It did open up and Local nurse changed dressing for me it took about 8 weeks to seal fully and for the swelling to go down. The following infections and internal muscle scarring is still a problem 2 years later.
give yourself time Inwrnt back to a non physocal
role after 12 weeks far too early and it had a detrimental affect on my recovery and mental health. I had to leave retire early eventually.
Take care it is major surgery especially open surgery
