Got a call yesterday, I am booked in for my partial nephrectomy next Tuesday 07/11 I am so ready to get this part of my journey over with. I had results from my recent endoscopy to try and remove a polyp third attempt, biopsy still showing low and high grade dysplasia so surgeon has booked me in for a chat about performing a TEMS proceedure on 6/12 happy for me to have renal surgery first. I'm a very positive person but still struggling to sleep having the strangest dreams. Hope the surgeon is better than the one I dreamt about last night ha! Ha!
Wanted to ask others who have had a partial did you sleep upstairs with your partner? Worried about his legs and arms, or am i being a bit ott?
Hi Gosh
That's good news that you have a date for your surgery.
I can't help with any experiences of after surgery for a partial nephrectomy, as I'm not from this group, but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to see.
All the best with your surgery
Hello
I had a full nephrectomy and after my two nights in hospital went home and did sleep upstairs with my husband, we have a king sized bed…….isn’t it surprising how open we are on this forum lol .
My op seemed to go well and wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. So my advice would be to see how you get on.
let us know how you are doing.
Big hugs Jules x
I had a full nephrectomy and came home after two nights in hospital. Unfortunately I was catheterised so that meant I was only comfortable sleeping on my back and hardly moving. After a few days I found I was more comfortable sleeping in my recliner, which I did for about a week until the catheter was removed. I’m sure everyone is different and on my ward the people who’d had a partial nephrectomy seemed to be a lot less affected by the surgery than I was. Hope all goes well for you - mine was all done robotically, in some ways I’d be very interested to see exactly how it was done, in other ways I’m glad I don’t know the intricacies. I know it’s easier said than done but try not to worry. Good luck with the op.
