My pre op tomorrow - I had an ultra sound for something else and they found a huge mass - 18cm on my kidney. Came as a complete shock. Kidney needs to be removed, I have no idea what to expect. The general consensus from the consultant is that it will be cancer. Has anyone else experience of such a large mass.
Hi,
I had a Ultra Sound of my kidney's for something unrelated. The Ultra Sound showed a 10cm mass on my right kidney. I had a CT scan last week and I am now waiting for the result. Like you I'm in shock.
The consultant, has said that the kidney will have to be removed, but don't know what else the CT Scan will find.
It is a horrible wait, it seems to be a lot of waiting even though in reality things have happened quite quickly. Having to have a kidney removed is a huge shock. The added element of cancer is a lot to deal with. I don’t know about you but I can’t believe that I’d be unaware of some thing that size.
Just to say, like you I had a CT scan and a two week wait for the results. The scan showed them a lot more detail and picked up other possible issues. The consultant I’d originally dealt with had prepared me for what was to come so it didn’t really come as a bolt from the blue when they said I’d need to have a kidney removed. Thanks for the good wishes, at the moment it all seems a bit unreal, like it’s happening to someone else.
