First, I had bladder cancer in 2017. Then, one year later, I had cancer in my right kidney. The kidney had to be removed, followed by 6 rounds of chemo. Since the removal of the kidney, my eGFR number has fluctuated between 43 and 64. My most recent blood test (last month) showed a 58 eGFR, BUN 12, and creatinine 1.3. Given that I have only one kidney, I suppose those are acceptable numbers. I have not noticed any difference in bodily functions since the removal of the kidney. But, I constantly worry about my kidney. It's on my mind every day. I am the first one in my family's history to have bladder/kidney cancer.
Hi
I have two kidneys, but I experienced too much inflammation in my kidney a month after starting immunotherapy. My kidney function went down to eGFR 33, creatinine 143. It's restored a bit now but eGFR hovering in the low 50s. It doesn't play on my mind - apart from Jan this year when I noticed an upward trend and thought I was on for a normal eGFR above 60 only for my hopes to be shattered . I've just accepted inferior eGFR now but ever hopeful, you never know, one day . . . . I was in that constantly on-my-mind place when my treatment was stopped for the interstitial nephritis - not nice.
