My husband was diagnosed six years ago, kidney removal no treatment but a year later spread to his lungs which since then has remained dormant. Last CT scan showed it had started to Grow again. Anyone had this happen please and does it still grow slowly once it’s livened up? It was a grade four tumour when first diagnosed.
Hi helmac and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I can't help with your question but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where hopefully it'll be more easily spotted.
If you don't get any response you could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will respond within 3 working days. If this is something that you'd like to do, clicking on the link I've created will take you straight there.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could pop something about your husband's diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi - I saw your post first time round but I don't fall into that category.
However, I have tried using the search functionality at the top of the page (I'm on a laptop, phones have a less intuitive interface) for "spread to lungs" and restricted the results to the Kidney group and you can find members who have posted on this subject.
Some seem to be on immunotherapy treatment.
Hi Helmac
I had a nephrectomy in 2020 but found on my 6 month CT scan that it had spread to my right lung , renal cell carcinoma is slow growing form of cancer & I’m on Ipilmumab/Nivolumab combination which is working well in my case. They’re are lots of different drugs to treat this so try to stay positive ( I know it can be hard at times) & feel free to ask questions on here, I hope your treatment goes well
I had a partial nephrectomy about 10/12 years ago, and no further treatment. 20 months ago I had DVT which was traced back to the tumour regrowing. July 21 it was 40x45mm, I’ve been told it has not grown during this recent period, but now the oncologist (December 22) tells me it’s now 65mm - up from 61mm on my last scan. That’s a 50% increase in size. No treatment has been given.
it doesn’t make sense - what they’re telling me!
Im now 75, and suspect that ageism is playing a big part in their decisions, information provision and ultimately their (lack of) treatment.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
