Recently diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma and awaiting kidney removal! Absolutely devastated and dreading it.
Hi, I just wanted to say that I only had night sweats which my Dr put down to early menopause and pain in my back which my Dr put down to a slipped disc and sent me for physiotherapy again and again, no other symptoms!
Hi Arney please find support from this site and it's wonderful people I know that it's a lot to take in and it's an emotional rollercoaster.
The main thing is that it's been found and in most cases it needs to come out one way or another, you will be asleep when the operation happens and when you wake up they give you drugs ( that's the simple version) your body will take time to recover and try not to do to much.
Mine was found after a appendicitis and a CT scan and a year of monitoring and don't get me wrong I had a panic attack when I got the call.
I totally recommend talking to Macmillan they are brilliant and reach out as it helps.
Everyone story is different.
Please stay positive and safe.
Mike
Thanks for the advice, I've spoken to McMillan and they are absolutely amazing! I've had my pre op assessment and am just waiting on an admission date now. I feel a lot better about the whole situation after talking to people on here and doing a bit of research.onwards and upwards!!
Hi Simon unfortunately not everyone's story is the same and those of us who have had a radical nephrectomy have a longer recovery time and I know as I had keyhole surgery the year before.
As I was advised by the medical team they basically have to move everything out of way to reach the kidneys and then put it back together then everyone recovery is different.
Some people have great experiences while others not so good.
Stay positive and safe
Mike
