Hi All
Went for an nhs lung screening scan which spotted something on my kidney. Following further scans I was told yesterday I have cancer on my kidney and now am due to have my left kidney removed in about 4 weeks, this has all happened so fast and has come as a shock to me and my daughter having only lost my husband 2 years ago to cancer I think the prognosis is good but I’m just trying to get my head around it
Carol
Hi Carol, and sorry to meet you here. You've already identified the positive, the early find and having a date for a nephrectomy is good too. There are people on here who are left in limbo waiting for a date, and all the stress that brings. We're a friendly bunch and there's plenty of people who have experience of a nephrectomy. Drug treatment for kidney cancer is in a much better place than what it was 10 years ago.
You won't feel like this forever. Do give yourself some time to come to terms with it. Most of us find our approaches change as time progresses. Good luck, and let us know how you get on.
Claire xx
