I have advanced stage 3 left kidney cancer, diagnosed end of May 2021.  Had no idea, thought I had torn a muscle in my tummy from lifting a baby in a car seat.  After 2 months of pain in tummy, and feeling sick, had a scan on tummy and found this.  Complete shock.  Told by consultant I wouldn’t survive surgery due to renal vein being compromised.  Thought of chemo terrified me.

Oncologist gave me Pazopanib tablets to take everyday. Just finished round 2 only 10 more to go.

I have the most fabulous GP, very much interested and down to earth in North West Cumbria.  Oncologist from Carlisle, not so.

I have been very lucky with tolerating the drug, only sickness and tiredness involved.  Tried 2 anti sickness drugs - didn’t work, but Haliperidol does.  Pharmacist said they cost £230 a packet, bloody hell.  Thank you NHS.

can I ask a question? Anybody else on Pazapanib and does it make your hair fall out?

  • Hi Suzi2Suzi2Suzi2SuzSSuSuziSuz

Iv've been on Pazopanib for 8 years now. ( with a gap between 20213 n 2016)  My hair's  not fallen out, but it has gone straight, white n thin whereas it was thick, curly n auburn. This is quite common with Pazopanib.

A no of ppl in the group are on it,so you may hear from them re side effects, but bear in mind not everyone gets every side effect.

The main other thing I  get regularly is my taste buds go AWOL n everything tastes horrible, if at all.

I get round this by having a treatment break of 2 to 3 weeks. In fact, my oncologist has recently suggested I have a break of a week every ,2 months. But I wouldn't suggest you do this without you first consulting your oncologist.

Ask away if you've any more questions. Someone here will no doubt have been there, done that n got the T shirt!

    Sue
