Hi my husband has just been diagnosed with kidney cancer which has spread to surrounding fatty tissue.  We are in shock, we are waiting on MDT outcome but would be grateful if anyone who can relate to to this diagnosis can advise if they got their kidney and tissue removed or what alternative treatment they received? TIA

Hi, I had my left kidney removed along with the surrounding fat although there ended up being no cancer cells present in the fat. The first step, I understand should be a full nephrectomy where the kidney and surrounding fat will be removed and then analysed to allow clarity on how follow up should proceed. Do try and stay positive as I understand how alarming ppl feel after finding out about something like this can be. You'll find plenty of support with Macmillan and KCUK have a very helpful kidney cancer group you can join on Facebook.

Hi Frasier thank you so much for your response.  It is the waiting now that is the problem!  He missed the MDT for this week as email referral was not sent on time so now 16 days until the next one.  We are staying positive and hopeful of a good outcome
